There is more involved if you are moving from Canada to a US State as there are documents needed to be prepared and filled and also customs declaration documents. All shipments of household goods and personal effects entering the United States must be registered to utilize Treasury Department Form No. 3299 (Declaration for Free Entry of Articles Not Accompanying a Resident or Non-Resident).
Also, a supplemental declaration providing additional information about the contents of shipment is required. Although Form No. 3299 is a simple form, it is the primary document, which allows you to ship personal, household possessions into the US duty-free. If the document is completed incorrectly or is incomplete, there will be delays at the border. Such problems cause delays and are to be avoided.
